Root directory
Root directory follows immediately the second FAT/NTFS copy. There is one on every disk. Virtually, it is the very list of files and directories which you see when opening the disk in any file manager (for example in the Exlporer). The root directory consists of 32 byte elements (in fact, with the advent of longer file names, several such elements are allocated for each file). They contain the name of the file, the extension attributes, date and time of creation, the file size and the starting cluster number. Created during formatting.
