IEEE 1394a was initially positioned for video data transfer. Providing a high bandwidth for modern high-speed disks, it also found favour with the manufacturers of peripherals disks. Today a lot of system boards as well as almost all modern laptop models support this interface.
Data transfer rates – 100, 200 and 400 Mb/sec; cable length – up to 4.5 meters.
