MBR is located in the first sector – “0 Sector” (cylinder 0, side 0, sector 1). There is one copy on each hard disk which contains a lot of information required for loading. By offset 0H (for convenience all the offsets are in the hexadecimal system) is the loader itself. Its task is to determine the active partition and to download its Boot-sector into the memory to the address 0000:7С00. Further, by offset 1FE (the last two bytes of a sector) is the signature 55AA H designating the boot sector.
The whole track with the MBR is regarded as supporting and no data is recorded there.
