Extended partition

Extended DOS partition is a way to get around the 2 GB partition limitation. Separate logical drives can be created inside an extended partition. If you look into the PT address of the extended partition and then by means of Diskedit transfer to this address, you will discover a sector which structure resembles that of the PT. It consists of two elements: the first one describes the current partition (Extended DOS); the second one describes the following logical drive (if there is one).  At the end of the sector there is the same signature 55AA H, by which it can be found on the disk (still in the same Diskedit). The rest of the track, as in the MBR case, is empty. It is created by the FDISK utility.
